Wright County links directly from its jail page to Minnesota VINE. The county describes VINE as a free, secure, confidential service for custody status, criminal information, and notifications. That direct link supports use of VINE for Wright County Jail events. It does not turn VINE into the sheriff's official release ledger or a permanent record of every past custody event.
VINE is source- and event-based. It can report custody status and events supplied by a participating agency. A record must identify Wright County as the source before it is treated as a Wright jail result. If a person transferred from the jail to MNDOC, the state Public Viewer should also be checked. A released result means the contributing agency sent a release event. It does not mean charges were dismissed, the sentence fully expired, supervision ended, or the person is at a known place. A transfer event means custody continued elsewhere. Pair either event with the sheriff record and court case.

For a state-prison transfer, Public Viewer may take several business days to show a newly sentenced person. Later, an Under Supervision record can state a release type and “as of” date, agent or unit, and expiration date. That is a state-prison status, not a Wright County jail alert. A fully discharged state case may fall outside the Viewer's current-jurisdiction scope.
BOP's Inmate Locator covers federal custody and may show Released or Not in BOP Custody. BOP warns that another justice system or federal supervision may still apply. ICE's locator is only for a real immigration-custody lead. Neither federal system is replaced by Minnesota VINE, and a Wright census disappearance is not enough to choose one.

An incarcerated detail can add Sentence Date, Anticipated Release Date, Expiration Date, caseworker, offense, court file, and a DOC photo. Anticipated Release Date is prospective. It should not be restated as an actual VINE release event.
After a prison exit, Current Status may say Under Supervision with a release type and “as of” date, plus an agent or unit and expiration date. That wording means confinement ended while state jurisdiction continues. A fully discharged person may no longer appear because Public Viewer limits its stated scope to current DOC jurisdiction. Central Records and the court file are the fallback for more detail.
Wright County VINE Versus Registries
Minnesota's predatory-offender systems are not general released-inmate lists. The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension explains registration duties, while MNDOC's public Level 3 search covers the narrower group subject to public Level 3 notification. A person absent from that public search may still have another registration status, custody history, or release record.
VINE should not be substituted for a registry, and a registry should not be used as a custody alert. Each has a distinct legal scope. For a Wright County release question, use VINE for the reported event, the sheriff for the release or transfer facts, and the court for the legal action.
